pumpkin head and ghoul for Halloween

Ghoulish Halloween fun in a Catalina Vista front yard

I was just driving through the upscale Catalina Vista neighborhood when I saw all these ghoulish decorations. I had to stop and get out my smart phone. After all, there was a big Welcome sign over the front gate.

What is Morey Madness?

One sign under a tree read that it was part of “Morey Madness” for a Spooktacular Halloween, but I’m not sure what that’s all about. A fundraiser? A neighborhood contest? I couldn’t find any details on Google, so I’ll just leave it at being a fun and–at night–maybe scary front yard decorated for Halloween.

Mr. Pumpkinhead seems to give the impression of being organic — those legs look like roots. In front of him are deflated pumpkins that I bet are lighted at night. Fake pumpkins are best because wild javelinas love real pumpkins. And a really scary front yard would be one filled with javelinas!! Skeletons and a spider are mounted on the house.

Lurking beside the front gate, Mr. Pumpkinhead’s front yard companion is a Werewolf in blue. Notice the orange lights strung along the fence. There are electric wires running to Mr. Werewolf. I wonder what he does after dark? Turn really blue? Jump? Growl? I may have to come back and see this yard when the sun goes down.

This sign is about the Morey Madhouse Annual Haunted Yard–whatever that is. This group of decorations are much more benign that the two huge figures on the left side of this yard. All good fun!
