Thousands of Tucsonans showed up for the No Kings event. Everyone appeared to be in good spirits and there wasn’t a Maga Trumper in sight. What was in view were lots of U.S. flags and people in costumes, including a frogs, bunnies, a Plague doctor and a Guy Fawkes masked man. And signs…and more signs. In fact, I had just stepped onto the sidewalk on Speedway when a woman asked me if I wanted a sign. She had made 6 or 7 extras that she was handing out.
Oh, for people reading this outside of Tucson, there were several other No Kings events around the city including one downtown where the mayor and our newly-elected -but-not -sworn-in congresswoman spoke. I went to the closest one to my home where there were no speakers — just people holding signs along one of the main streets in the City.
So here is some of what I saw the the No Kings demonstration on Speedway. It spread along Speedway for about two miles on both sides of the street.
Here are a few of the flag bearers at the event:

And here are some signs:

And costumed demonstrators, including a dinosaur. The plague doctor was a puzzle.

And more people with their signs. I spoke briefly with the man with the Stephen Miller sign and we agreed that Miller is as much or more of a threat to this country than Trump. Trump, however, has the MAGA people bewitched. Miller is as charismatic as a rock.

And more…

And here is one photo taken looking west along Speedway…

And finally–the inflatable animals, Portland-style.
