If I go to the Vegan Night Market at Rillito race track again, I won’t arrive until after 7 p.m. That’s when the “first sitting” finishes their dinners, decides they’ve listened to enough music, and chatted enough with their friends to call it an evening. They then go out to their cars and drive away. Suddenly parking opens up!
When I finally did find parking, happily, it was very near the west entry to the market space, and the first thing I noticed when I got out of my car were two women who had dressed for the event. I snapped a quick photo of these ladies and decided to focus my time mostly on women who dressed up for vegan dinners and desserts and music by a masked DJ in an open air market. The temperature was 101F when I arrived just before 7 pm.
(Sorry the photos are not very good. I need to work on night photography!)
More women who dressed up for Vegan eats
Here are a few of many others I came across as I walked along the very crowded market zone.
Hello Darkness…
Darkness created a new look to lines and lighted food trucks. On the left, below, is the line up for food at del Ceilo that once again this year had very popular and affordable food. And speaking of lines, at the very end of the walkway through the market was a pizza truck — a kind of “Last Chance for Vegan Food”–and a perfect choice for a filling, delicious vegan dinner. Oh, the lady in red in the pizza line was one of the women I photographed for “Ladies Who Dressed Up”, but since she is in this photo, she was eliminated from the image gallery above.
Darkness brings drama to ice cream and — although hard to see–a masked DJ on the right. These DJs also worked the June Vegan Market at Rillito.
The temperature was 97F when I got home, less than two miles from Rillito. But since the KOLD weatherman announced last evening that every day was going to have highs of over 100F for the foreseeable future, I’ve decided not to avoid public events any longer. Enough! This coming weekend I’m going to “Tucson Meet Yourself” even if it is over 101F. And parking is great at the Pennington lot. No delays. See you there.
