Keeping my promise, here is the newly finished Joe Pagac mural at Amphi Middle School.
Of course there are pirates. A pirate is the school mascot. There are also children helping the pirates, who are in turn friendlier and more helpful than those traditional swashbuckling villains.

And now for two images that didn’t appear when I first posted about this mural back in November.
While there is no history of pirates helping indigenous people here in the Tucson area plant their crops, this pix continues the Pirate-as-Benign-Helper image. And the result of the plantings: food–pears, grapes, apples–shown as the real treasure in treasure chests.
And finally, Pagac giving credit to the artists who helped him finish this mural before he takes off on a long hike up the Pacific Crest Trail.
